Career & Technical Education!

Jubilee Academies launched its new Engineering Program of Study at our middle schools in the Rio Grande Valley in August. In partnership with the Elon Musk Foundation, students are completing Introduction to Engineering and Robotics, and Aerospace and Energy through Project Lead the Way as a pipeline to Engineering. Through a school redesign initiative, Jubilee-San Antonio, Jubilee-Highland Hills, and Jubilee-Highland Park have launched the Introduction to STEM course to support goals of building PreK-postsecondary STEAM pathways.

The Jubilee CTE department is also pleased to announce that the practicum students are starting their work-based learning opportunities this year. In partnership with the Alamo Arts Academy, our very own Animation and Graphic Design students across the district will participate in this college and career readiness program. The students will work alongside industry professionals and community partners through real-world and hands-on experiences. This program provides project-based learning that will allow students to develop products that will be incorporated into the Bexar Fest in the spring semester. Jubilee is the first and only school district to be the exclusive creator of the marketing material for Bexar Fest.

The Jubilee-San Antonio “Teaching and Training” practicum students will start their field-based internships with the elementary students. This program allows them to apply knowledge in early childhood, and adolescent education in a real-world elementary classroom setting. Then we have our Jubilee-Lakeview University Prep Law Enforcement students who will be participating in the Bexar County Police Explorers Program. Through this program, the students will be provided with career orientation experiences, leadership opportunities, and community service activities. In partnership with the Brownsville Police Department, our Jubilee-Brownsville Practicum in Law Enforcement students will complete a work-based experience as they cover topics such as traffic stops, the Criminal Justice System, stress management and mental health, and raising awareness for bullying.

Next, we have our Practicum in Nursing Science students at Jubilee-Brownsville who are participating in the Certified Nursing Aide program through Texas Southmost College. Through these rigorous and hands-on courses, the students will prepare for their state-approved Nurse Aide training and competency exam.

The students will complete their practicum courses with an end of program industry-based certification for their respective programs. In the spring semester, students across the district will be working on Adobe Certified Professional Certifications, Certified Nursing Aide, Non-Commissioned Security Officer Level II, ServSafe Manager Certification, and Microsoft Technology Specialist Certifications.
