What is Career and Technical Education?

Jubilee Academies’ Career and Technical Education Programs (CTE) are committed to preparing students for college and careers, offering a sequence of courses that provides students with coherent and rigorous content. The Texas Education Agency certifies “CTE content is aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for further education and careers in current or emerging professions.” Students will gain technical and high-level academic skills in preparation for high-skill, high-wage, and in-demand occupations.

  • The Culinary Arts program of study focuses on occupational and educational opportunities associated with the planning, directing, or coordinating activities of a food and beverage organization or department. This program of study includes opportunities involved in directing and participating in the preparation of food examine characteristics needed for success in that industry.

  • The Cybersecurity program of study focuses on occupational and educational opportunities associated with planning, implementing, upgrading, or monitoring security measures for the protection of computer networks and information. This program of study includes responding to computer security breaches and viruses and administering network security measures.

  • The Engineering Program of Study focuses on the design, development and use of engines, machines and structures. Students will learn how to apply science, mathematical methods, and empirical evidence to the innovation, design, construction, operation and maintenance of different manufacturing systems.

  • The Graphic Design and Interactive Media program of study explores the occupations and educational opportunities associated with designing or creating graphics to meet specific commercial or promotional needs, such as packaging, displays, or logos. This program of study may also include exploration into designing clothing and accessories and creating special effects, animation, or other visual images using film, video, computers, or other electronic tools and media, for use in computer games, movies, music videos, and commercials.

  • The Law Enforcement program of study focuses on occupational and educational oppurtunites associated with the development and enforcement of laws by various branches of law enforcement. This program of study includes the history, organization, and functions of local, state, and federal law enforcement. Students will understand the role of constitutional law at local, state, and federal levels; the U.S. legal system; criminal law; and law enforcement terminology and the classification and elements of crime.

Career & Technical Student Organizations

A Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) is an extracurricular group for students in CTE pathways to further their knowledge and skills by participating in activities, events, and competitions.

Law Enforcement Career Exploring provides educational training programs for young adults on the purposes, mission, and objectives of law enforcement. The program provides career orientation experiences, leadership opportunities, and community service activities. This program is offered at Jubilee Brownsville and Jubilee Lake View University Prep.

SkillsUSA is a national organization serving teachers and high school and college students who are preparing for careers in technical, skilled and service occupations, including health occupations and for further education. This program is offered districtwide at the middle school and high school level.

San Antonio Boosting Engineering Science and Technology competition mentors help students in areas such as: Motivation, Goal Setting, Teamwork, Leadership, Project Management, Prioritization, Applying Math & Science, Sportsmanship, Inspiration

This program is currently only offered at Jubilee San Antonio.

Jubilee Academies offers career and technical education programs in Graphic Design and Multimedia Arts, Culinary Arts, Engineering, Nursing Science, Teaching and Training, and Law Enforcement.  Admission to these programs is open to all registered students.
