Celebrating Creativity: Jubilee Senior Designs the 2026 Fiesta Medal

At Jubilee Academies, student creativity isn’t just encouraged, it’s celebrated on a citywide stage. This year, we are proud to recognize Jubilee San Antonio senior Joscelynne Ruiz, the talented student behind our official 2026 Fiesta Medal.

Joscelynne’s design represents more than just a commemorative piece for Fiesta in San Antonio. It reflects the heart of Jubilee Academies, our 25-year legacy, and the power of student voice through hands-on learning.

Winning Design Rooted in Jubilee Pride

This year’s Fiesta Medal competition brought together a select group of student designers, with the winning design ultimately chosen through a district-wide vote by our Jubilee staff, families, and community.

As a student in our Graphic Design Career and Technical Education (CTE) program, Joscelynne developed her medal under the guidance of instructor Mr. Oscar Joens, blending technical skill with personal creativity.

When asked about her inspiration, Joscelynne shared:

“I wanted to use the flowers that I drew. I also wanted to incorporate the elements that were inside the 25th anniversary logo for Jubilee all around the design. I wanted to make it more visible, more prominent.”

Her thoughtful approach resulted in a design that feels both personal and symbolic, honoring Jubilee’s milestone anniversary while showcasing her artistic style.

Moment of Recognition

Winning the Jubilee Fiesta Medal design competition was a proud moment for Joscelynne and her family.

“Yes, I was very excited! My family was also very excited.”

That excitement reflects what makes Jubilee special. Our students are supported not only by their schools, but by families and communities that celebrate their achievements every step of the way.

Proven Talent Beyond the Classroom

This isn’t Joscelynne’s first time being recognized for her work.

She also won a Fiesta Medal design competition through Workforce Solutions this year, where her creativity earned her a surprise recognition ceremony during Jubilee San Antonio’s Career Day.

“I was in shock because I didn't know they were going to surprise me… I was so confused on what was happening!”

Her ability to research, interpret, and design with purpose sets her apart. For that project, she studied the organization’s mission and translated it into visual storytelling:

“I did research on their website… I wanted to incorporate each career that they have, and also incorporate their logo.”

From Jubilee to College and Beyond

Joscelynne’s journey is just getting started.

She will be attending University of the Incarnate Word this fall, where she plans to continue pursuing graphic design. Her hard work has already earned her a $22,000 Presidential Scholarship.

“I’m going to UIW… I want to be a professional graphic designer.”

Her story is a powerful example of how Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs at Jubilee Academies prepare students for real-world success by combining creativity, technical skills, and career exploration.

The Power of CTE at Jubilee Academies

At Jubilee, programs like Graphic Design empower students to turn their passions into pathways. Through hands-on projects, mentorship, and real opportunities like designing a Fiesta Medal, students gain experience that extends far beyond the classroom.

Joscelynne’s success highlights what’s possible when students are given the tools, support, and platform to shine.

Celebrating Student Impact in San Antonio

Fiesta is a time to celebrate culture, community, and creativity across San Antonio. This year, Jubilee is proud to contribute to that tradition through a design created by one of our very own students.

Joscelynne Ruiz’s medal is more than a collectible, it’s a symbol of student achievement, artistic excellence, and the future of design.

Looking Ahead

As Joscelynne prepares for her next chapter, we celebrate her accomplishments and the bright future ahead.

Her journey from Jubilee San Antonio to college, and soon to a professional career in graphic design, is exactly what we strive for: Building Strong Leaders who are ready to make their mark.

Expanding Opportunities Through CTE at Jubilee Academies

Joscelynne’s story is just one example of how Jubilee Academies is preparing students for success through Career and Technical Education (CTE).

Across our campuses, students have access to a wide range of hands-on pathways that connect classroom learning to real-world careers. From graphic design and engineering to law enforcement, culinary arts, cybersecurity, and nursing science, our programs are designed to help students discover their passions and build practical skills for the future.

Through these experiences, students gain more than knowledge. They develop confidence, creativity, and a clear vision for what comes next, whether that’s college, certifications, or entering the workforce.

At Jubilee, we remain committed to creating pathways that empower every student to succeed and lead in their chosen field.
