What is Career and Technical Education?

Jubilee Academies’ Career and Technical Education Programs (CTE) are committed to preparing students for college and careers, offering a sequence of courses that provides students with coherent and rigorous content. The Texas Education Agency certifies “CTE content is aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for further education and careers in current or emerging professions.” Students will gain technical and high-level academic skills in preparation for high-skill, high-wage, and in-demand occupations.

  • The Arts, A/V Technology and Communications (AAVTC) Career Cluster® focuses on careers in designing, producing, exhibiting, performing, writing, and publishing multimedia content including visual and performing arts and design journalism, and entertainment services.

    Careers in the AAVTC Career Cluster require a creative aptitude, a strong background in computer and technology applications, a strong academic foundation, and a proficiency in oral and written communication.

  • The Hospitality and Tourism Career Cluster® focuses on the management, marketing, and operations of restaurants and other food/beverage services, lodging, attractions, recreation events, and travel-related services. Students learn knowledge and skills focusing on communication, time management, and customer service that meet industry standards.

    Students will explore the history of the hospitality and tourism industry and examine characteristics needed for success in that industry.

  • The Engineering Program of Study focuses on the design, development and use of engines, machines and structures. Students will learn how to apply science, mathematical methods, and empirical evidence to the innovation, design, construction, operation and maintenance of different manufacturing systems.

  • The Law, Public Safety, Corrections, and Security Career Cluster® focuses on planning, managing, and providing legal services, public safety, protective services, and homeland security, including professional and technical support services. Students will examine the roles and responsibilities of police, courts, corrections, private security, and protective agencies of fire and emergency services.

  • The Health Science Career Cluster® on planning, managing, and providing therapeutic services, diagnostics services, health informatics, support services, and biotechnology research and development.

    To pursue a career in the health science industry, students should learn to reason, think critically, make decisions, solve problems, and communicate effectively. Students should recognize that quality health care depends on the ability to work well with others.

Career & Technical Student Organizations

A Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) is an extracurricular group for students in CTE pathways to further their knowledge and skills by participating in activities, events, and competitions.

Law Enforcement Career Exploring provides educational training programs for young adults on the purposes, mission, and objectives of law enforcement. The program provides career orientation experiences, leadership opportunities, and community service activities. This program is offered at Jubilee Brownsville and Jubilee Lake View University Prep.

SkillsUSA is a national organization serving teachers and high school and college students who are preparing for careers in technical, skilled and service occupations, including health occupations and for further education. This program is offered districtwide at the middle school and high school level.

San Antonio Boosting Engineering Science and Technology competition mentors help students in areas such as: Motivation, Goal Setting, Teamwork, Leadership, Project Management, Prioritization, Applying Math & Science, Sportsmanship, Inspiration

This program is currently only offered at Jubilee San Antonio.

Jubilee Academies offers career and technical education programs in Graphic Design and Multimedia Arts, Culinary Arts, Engineering, Nursing Science, Teaching and Training, and Law Enforcement.  Admission to these programs is open to all registered students.
